Arriving in Singapore and stepping out of the terminal is like opening the oven door when your face is too close to it. I walked straight into the car while shredding my outer layers of clothes, and went into the shower as soon as I got home. The flight was pretty good, service was awesome - neighbouring passengers, weren't. The Singapore Airlines flight was carrying passengers from air India, and unlucky me got sandwiched between a noisy family. They were passing food across the aisle and blocking passengers during boarding. The mother was feeling nauseous, and was really rude to the cabin attendant who was being extremely nice to her. She even got up to throw up in the toilet while the plane was landing (seconds from hitting the ground), completely ignoring the crew that were shouting at her. The funniest part was when they all got their bags and tried to leave the aircraft while it was still taxiing to the dock.

Every time I come back for a holiday, there are a dozen new shopping centres which have opened, while all the existing ones have been given a facelift. The shops here are flooded with Japanese influence, along with every single luxury brand under the sun. Just walking into the stores makes me discover all kinds of things I never knew I needed, and heaps of new ways of spending the money I don't have. Anyway I'm trying to restrain myself so I can engage in optimum retail therapy while I'm in the land of the rising sun.

good update jon! p.s. what are the prices like return to singy from melbourne? i may or may not be going to singapore in december! in which you will be in rising sun land. lol.
mmmm branded things and sometimes electronics are kinda sometimes more expensive here. There's always some kind of promotion so you should rarely pay full price. Depends what you buy. I'd get the stuff you can't get in AU, walk around the city and you'll see lot's of huge shops which you've never heard of. small boutiques/chains are good too, but don't pay too much there.
coolies. and the airfares? how much do you think they will be? p.s i took a look at your blog (lol at slim and deadly! im guessing your other friend must be anorexic like you :P) i cant figure out how to subscribe to it, you gotta keep posting them on here!
Ughh I hate that! That's why I always try and get the seat near the back of the plane at either side of the aircraft. You know, the ones in which there are only 2 seats hehehe.
Sounds wonderful!!
Flo, depends which airline, if you can survive jetstar, prob 400-500? Singapore airlines prob 900 =p
The seats way at the back are more peaceful... but your right next to the toilet's so it smells really bad. Plus turbulence and landing are a bit more rough, it's a trade off ey.
